These are interesting and impressive images Drew.

I'm happy that you've reminded me of Tscherkassky, someone I forgot about after reading a piece on another of his shorts (Instructions for a Light and Sound Machine) by Just Another Film Buff.

I quite liked that one. The short form really is a great place for experimentation both on the part of the maker and the viewer.

Thanks for the comment, Stephen, and thanks for making me aware of JAFB's piece, which I went and found and which is really, really excellent.

I just love and am fascinated by Instructions, as well as Outer Space and the one I've posted shots of here (which both can be found on the excellent Index DVD of his work), and well pretty much everything I've seen of Tscherkassky's for that matter. His stuff is so thrilling and complex and thoroughly original. And I couldn't agree with you more regarding the positive qualities of the short form. I've been watching quite a few shorts myself lately (not all experimental), and am thinking of doing some kind of round-up write-up of my favorites sometime soon.

I'm glad you enjoyed JAFB's piece (thanks for linking it - I didn't check that it was actually there). I didn't know there was a DVD.

That would be great if you do.

This is a director I have almost no familiarity with I'm sorry to say. But I am very happy to see you continue to hold the torch for this kind of cinema. I remember that piece from JAFB as well, and similarly would love to see a separate post on the shorts.
