It's horrors are very subtle for the most part, and the way it's able to so effortlessly burrow its way under the skin of the viewer through mood and innuendo is amazing.Drew McIntoshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07054307044280470117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361087063517934891.post-7598789343366612072009-10-26T18:18:24.381-04:002009-10-26T18:18:24.381-04:00What you say is so true about The Innocents. The appearances of the ghosts/demons are always chilling. The tear on the blotter is one of the best gimmicks in any scary movie I've ever seen.Richard Bellamyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12397053921647421425noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361087063517934891.post-35811527667677847662009-10-26T16:52:56.728-04:002009-10-26T16:52:56.728-04:00Thanks for your comment J.D., we are obviously in ...Thanks for your comment J.D., we are obviously in total agreement here. It too works for me in both ways; on the level of pure atmospheric filmmaking I think it's one of the most striking examples to come from the genre in a long time, and also as a good old fashioned horror experience it's still better than the vast majority of stuff that comes out of Hollywood these days.

There's been a rumor for quite some time that Gans' original directors cut was almost four hours and that he is persistent in getting it a DVD release in the future. Let's cross our fingers; for better or worse this is definitely something I'd love to see.Drew McIntoshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07054307044280470117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5361087063517934891.post-26521150815546277452009-10-26T09:51:45.510-04:002009-10-26T09:51:45.510-04:00Good call on SILENT HILL. It has an undeniably creepy mood and an unsettling atmosphere that stayed with me for days after first watching it on DVD. The soundscape is also incredible.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08164105442273577128noreply@blogger.com
